Galoob Micro Machines: The Original Miniature Vehicle Collection

From die-cast cars to Star Wars starships, Galoob Micro Machines packed more detail into a few centimeters than most toys managed at full size.

Why Collectors Choose Galoob

Remarkable Detail

Each vehicle is packed with surface detail far beyond what the scale would suggest. Cars, tanks, and starships are recognizable at a glance — and satisfying to hold.

Built to Last

Original Galoob Micro Machines from 1986 onward still surface in excellent condition. The plastic and die-cast construction has held up through decades of storage and handling.

Deep Catalog

Over ten years of production means thousands of individual pieces across cars, military, trains, licensed sets, and playsets. There’s always something still to find.

The Story Behind the Scale

Lewis Galoob Toys was founded in San Francisco in 1957 by Lewis and Barbara Galoob. After Lewis fell ill in 1970, his 21-year-old son David dropped out of USC to run the company. Under David and his brother Robert, the business grew steadily through the 1970s.

Micro Machines arrived on shelves in 1986, developed from a concept by Wisconsin inventor Clemens Hedeen. The line launched with 11 themed sets, and within three years it accounted for half the company’s total sales. Cars, military vehicles, planes, and boats — each one pocket-sized.

Through the late 1980s and 1990s, Galoob expanded Micro Machines into Star Wars, Star Trek, and dozens of other licensed universes. Galoob was acquired by Hasbro in 1998. The vintage catalog remains one of the most collected miniature toy lines in the world.

Common Questions

Common Questions

What years were Galoob Micro Machines produced?

The original Galoob Micro Machines line ran from 1986 through 1999, when Hasbro acquired the brand. The most collected sets come from the 1986–1989 period and the mid-1990s licensed lines.

How do I know if my Galoob Micro Machines are vintage?

Original Galoob packaging carries the Lewis Galoob Toys or Galoob name and copyright. Sets from 1986 to 1998 are considered vintage. Post-1999 releases were produced under Hasbro.

Are Galoob Micro Machines Star Wars sets valuable?

Condition and completeness matter most. Sealed or complete sets from the mid-1990s Star Wars lines — including transforming playsets and collector gift sets — command the highest prices among collectors.

What’s included in a Galoob Micro Machines military set?

Galoob Micro Machines military sets typically included tanks, jeeps, helicopters, and naval vessels in the signature miniature scale, often sold in themed multi-vehicle packs with detailed detailing.

How should I store and clean Galoob Micro Machines?

Store pieces in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. For cleaning, a soft dry cloth is enough for most vehicles. Avoid water or chemical cleaners on original paint.

Did Galoob make Micro Machines Star Trek sets?

Yes. Galoob produced Star Trek Micro Machines from 1993 to 1997, including starships from The Original Series and The Next Generation. These miniatures became popular collector items despite modest sales at launch.

Real feedback from buyers who grew up with Galoob Micro Machines — or discovered them later and couldn’t stop at one set.

Young man in black shirt

Marcus T.

Picked up a 1986 set to replace the one I had as a kid. The detail on these cars is still impressive. Condition was exactly as described and it arrived well-packed.

Jennifer K.

The Star Wars Galoob Micro Machines collection I ordered had all pieces accounted for. Paint is clean on most. Exactly what the listing photos showed. Happy with the purchase.

Young man in gray hoodie

David R.

Bought a vintage military set from 1989. Some light wear on two vehicles but nothing unexpected for the age. Tanks and helicopters all there. Good value for the condition.
